ABOUT THIS PROJECT
In the new educational landscape resulting from COVID-19, many students are struggling to perform at their full potential. Learning completely online detracts from the ability of younger students to build the educational foundation that higher education relies on. Many of these problems stem from students not being computer independent and students not being able to receive 1-on-1 attention. These issues are most prominent in students from elementary to middle school as they are still developing. Thankfully even during this pandemic there is an opportunity for high school and college students to lend a helping hand to these younger students. Through a hybrid approach of both virtual and/or in-person tutoring we hope to help those struggling with this new style of learning catch up - ALL FOR FREE. Currently tutors are only meeting with students virtually but as we expand this program and secure the proper PPE and testing we hope to move to allow those who are comfortable with it to meet in person in a socially distanced setting.
HOW IT WORKS
We have a team of intelligent, compassionate, and generous volunteers based out of universities and local high schools to help tutor your children. To make this program as effective as possible we try to give as much control to you and your family by allowing you to choose from the following two options:
Option 1 - Reoccurring Sessions: From our team of volunteer tutors, you can pick an individual(s) who you think would be the best fit for you and your child based off the volunteer's profile (see below). You can even set up a meeting with the volunteer to confirm that it is indeed the right fit (for option 1 only). If it is, then through our website you can sign up for reoccurring private sessions either on the same days/times or varying times - whatever works best for you and the volunteer tutor!
Option 2 - Single Sessions: Our volunteer tutors are also available for students who may not need reoccurring help. Again, from our team of volunteer tutors, you can pick an individual(s) who you think would be the best fit for you and your child based off the volunteer's profile (see below). You can then visit our sign up page to see what times our volunteers are available and sign up for a single session at a time. Note, this option does not mean you cannot sign up for multiple single sessions, it is meant to allow students who may need help with a specific topic or lesson and do need multiple consecutive sessions.
